BASF employees and the company’s McIntosh site contributed $7,000 to the American Cancer Society of Southwest Alabama to support cancer research and provide local programs and support services for individuals affected by cancer.

“The work of the American Cancer Society of Southwest Alabama is important to our fellow community members who have cancer,” said George Vann, Vice President of BASF’s McIntosh site. “Our shared contribution with employees is a commitment to support research, provide cancer patients rides to and from treatments, and give support to those facing a cancer diagnosis.”

BASF was recognized recently at the Relay For Life event in Washington County in the following categories: Luminary Sponsor; Corporate Most Money Raised; Corporate Most Creative Cancer Facts; Corporate Most All-Nighters; Corporate Best Team Skit/Song; Corporate Best Campsite; and Corporate Last Tent Standing.

The American Cancer Society is the nationwide, community-based, voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy and service.
